One in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer, and it is likely we will all know someone who has been affected by the disease. Around 285,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year in the UK. At Cancer Research UK we are working hard to improve our understanding of cancer and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
We support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. Over the past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through earlier detection and improved treatments. But, much more work remains to be done if we are to achieve our aim of beating cancer.
